Transition Resource Center

The Transition Resource Center provides a centralized hub of support for former foster youth experiencing homelessness or instability. TRC offers access to essential services such as case management, education and employment assistance, life skills training, and basic needs like food and hygiene supplies. By connecting youth to critical resources and a supportive network, the center empowers them to build stability, self-sufficiency, and a path toward long-term success.

Program Description

The Transition Resource Center provides employment & education assistance to foster and former foster youth ages 16 to 25.

Qualifying Criteria

  • ​Foster or former foster care

  • Seeking employment

  • Pursuing educational goals

  • Intake must be completed and eligibility verified (TFW or PAL letter verifying dates in foster care) prior to assistance being provided

Services Offered

  • Monthly bus pass

    • Participants are provided a bus pass for transport to work or school​ using the Central Texas HOP​

  •  Emergency grocery assistance

    • If participant can't afford groceries, CTYS can provide on a needs basis

  • Assistance in completing education enrollment

    • CTYS can provide clothing for school attendance

    • CTYS helps with enrollment paperwork

    • CTYS partners with secondary schools to provide higher education for program participants

  • Assistance in obtaining employment

    • CTYS aids in pick up and drop off of paper applications and filling out online applications

    • CTYS assists participants in acquiring appropriate work attire

    • CTYS partners with companies to provide employment for program participants

  • Hygiene assistance

    • Participants are provided with soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, etc

  • State I.D. assistance for those seeking employment assistance

    • CTYS helps with paperwork and communication with agencies

  • Educational Testing Fees

    • CTYS helps with SAT, ACT, and other entrance exam fees

  • School Supplies

    • Participants are provided with backpack, pens, pencils, paper, folders, etc.
  • Employment Uniform
    • CTYS assists with uniform expenses
  • One set of Interview Clothing
    • Participant is provided with a suit and tie or formal dress
  • Referrals to qualified agency programs, workforce and community resources
    • CTYS will identify participant needs that overlap with other CTYS programs
    • CTYS will assist in meeting participant needs that are outside of the agency, such as food pantries
