Option House

Option House provides a safe, stable environment for runaway and homeless youth ages 11-17, offering immediate protection from dangerous situations. Option House provides essential services such as crisis intervention, case management, and basic needs like food and clothing. By offering a secure place to stay and access to supportive resources, we help youth stabilize their lives and work toward long-term solutions.

Program Description

The Option House program provides emergency housing to youth ages 11 through the age of 17. We accept placements from CPS, runaway homeless youth (RHY), Bell County Juvenile Justice Program (JJP) and provide respite care of 2 nights and 3 days.

 

Referrals to Drop-In Center services for non-residential and post-residential services are available for applicants identified as potential TLP & MGH residential clients ages 16 and 17 years old.

Qualifying Criteria

  • ​Must be homeless between the ages of 11 through 17.

  • Must not be in need of residence at a treatment facility.

  • 16 & 17 year old RHY/TLP placements approved by Residential Case Manager and Shelter Directors​

Services Offered

  • Housing

    • ​Participants are provided with long-term shelter​
  • Food
    • Participants are provided 3 meals a day
  • Clothing
    • Participants are provided clothing for everyday needs
  • Education Services
    • All clients are enrolled in Killeen ISD
    • Staff help with school work/projects
  • Basic Medical Services
    • Access to Primary Care Physician
  • Basic Life Skills​
    • Participants are taught life skills, including but not limited to: cooking, taxes, writing resumes, cleaning, laundry, etc​
