Community Needs

Our Motivation

  • There are currently over 500,000 foster children in the United States.

  • 50% of girls in foster care are pregnant by age 19.

  • 50% of foster youth are incarcerated within two years of aging out.

  • 80% of death row inmates are former foster youth.

  • Numerous studies show that youth who age out of foster care experience higher rates of homelessness, lower educational attainment and more involvement with the criminal justice system then their peers.

  • In a recent study from 2007-2018, on domestic sex trafficking it was found that 96% of survivors were victims of childhood sexual abuse.

  • It was also discovered that 41% of child trafficking survivors were trafficked by family members/caregivers.
